Note: Global total of installed wind power in 2006 was an estimated 74 gigawatts.

In 2006, Germany was the world leader in installed wind power, followed by Spain, the United States of America and India. China had only about half the installed wind power capacity as India.

In per capita terms, Denmark has, by far, the largest installed capacity of wind power - followed by Spain and Germany. The United States of America had about the same per capita installed wind power in 2006 as Italy. In per capita terms, the installed wind power of India and China is negligible.
