DemoTables '96 is a no-nonsense
data browser. It is the first
and only tool that gives you a "one-click access" to demographic data
for all countries worldwide - covering a period from 1950 to 2050. The software
combines an easy-to-use interface with a solid data base on demographic trends worldwide.
DemoTables '96 includes data
from the "United Nations
World Population Prospects: The 1996 Edition". These are the most widely used demographic assessments and
projections for all countries and major regions worldwide. Especially the historical estimates of population trends from 1950
to 1995 are the most authoritative
population data on a worldwide country-by-country basis. The UN World Population
Prospects are used by numerous international agencies (including the World Bank, the WHO,
the FAO, and others), national research centers and individual researchers. All leading
international research programmes on global (environmental) change (such as the IPCC,
IGBP, HDP, LUCC) have based their research and modeling activities on this demographic
data set. |

DemoTables '96 now makes most of these 1996 UN population data easily
accessible on your laptop or Personal Computer. The demographic information is displayed
in "Smart Tables" which give you immediate access to the
data base. It is not necessary for you to remember cryptic file names or sub-directories.
You do not have to load or convert data files or select indicators for table columns
through a complicated menu structure. One click, and you can immediately see a table with
a carefully selected set of demographic indicators - perfectly formatted for screen
display. By setting a filter (with one click!) you can easily focus on certain regions or
sub-regions. You can also sort countries or regions by a large number of
demographic indicators with just one click of the mouse.
