How can I get rid of the "splash screen" during program start?

When  you start DemoGraphics ’96 a "splash screen" is displayed for a few seconds, which gives author and copyright information. To speed up program start you can minimize the display time of this screen. Change to the directory in which you have installed the DemoGraphics program (use a standard Windows method or program, such as MS-Explorer). The default location is:
C:\Program Files\GKH\DG96.
In this directory you will find the file: ABOUT.INI. Open it in a plain ASCII text editor, such as WordPad and find the line: InfoDelay=2500. Change it to InfoDelay=0. This will minimize the display time of the splash screen.

How can I speed up the animations?
Animation speed is greatly determined by two factors: (a) the speed of your PC's processor and video board and (b) the screen resolution and color depths which you have chosen. For smooth animation you would need a Pentium (II) PC with at least 90 MHz and a True-Color video board (which can display more than 16 million colors). However, even with this hardware there are big differences in animation speed depending on the screen resolution and color-depth you choose. Try to run DemoGraphics '96 with different screen resolutions and color-depth settings. Many video boards (such as the Matrox Millenium II) are much faster in a screen resolution of 800x600, than with a screen resolution of 1024x768 or higher. To change the screen resolution and color-depth of your video board just right-click on your desktop (be sure to click on the plain desktop - not into an open window). A menu will pop up in which you should select "Properties". This will bring up a tabbed menu in which you should select the "Settings" tab. Here you can change the screen resolution and color-depth of your video board. Follow the instructions on screen.
Which screen resolution is best for using a projector?
DemoGraphics '96 is a tool for population education and designed to be used in seminars and workshops. You can run it on our laptop and use a projector to display the screen for a larger audience. For best results use a screen resolution of 800x600 and a color-depth of 32,000 colors (or more). Fonts and charts are optimized for this resolution, so that your audience will be able to read scales and headers. If your laptop can drive projectors only at an (external) screen resolution of 640x480 in 256 colors, you can also use it. However, due to the low resolution, some very small text fonts will not be readable.
