Setup Problems

Why does DemoTables '96 not run on my MS-Windows 3.1 system?

DemoTables '96 is designed for MS-Windows '95 or MS-Windows NT 4.0 (or later). It cannot run in a 16bit environment, such as MS-Windows 3.x.

The setup says it cannot read a particular diskette. What is wrong?
We have made a great effort to make sure that you get error-free setup diskettes. Each set is carefully tested before we send it out. We also use a solid plastic box to package the diskettes. However, there is always a possibility that one diskette might have a bad sector or gets (magnetically) damaged while in the mail. If you have problems please try to set up the software on a different PC. If it still doesn't work please contact us by fax or e-mail (numbers see below). We will arrange a replacement of your setup disks.
I cannot setup DemoTables '96 on our network. Why not?
DemoTables is using the Borland Database Engine, which makes network setup a little more complicated than it is with the DemoGraphics software. There are two possibilities:

(1) You can use the network to setup DemoTables on the local drive of your networked PC (recommended!). Just copy all setup files to a separate directory on your network drive (for instance N:/tmp if N: is your network drive). The setup files are in the root-directory of your CD-ROM. You can then start the setup program from your network drive in the same way as you would start it from the CD-ROM.

(2) You can also run DemoTables directly over your network. However, in this case you have to install the Borland Database Engine on the local drives of all your PCs. On your Demo-Graphics & Tables '96 CD-ROM you will find a sub-directory called BDE. Use the setup program in this directory to install the Borland Database Engine on all those networked PCs, on which you want to use the DemoTables '96 software. Then copy everything from the DG and DT sub-directories in the CD-ROM to your network drive. Make the equivalent sub-directories. In the DG and DT sub-directories are ready-to-run versions of both the DemoGraphics '96 and the DemoTables '96 software.

Can I run DemoTables on my laptop?

You can use the software on your laptop if you have a functioning installation of MS-Windows '95 or NT Vers. 4.0. You can install DemoGraphics '96 just as you would on any other machine. Please also see additional information in FAQ-section below.

I cannot setup the software on my local PC. What is wrong?
We have tested the DemoTables '96 setup on many dozens of different computers. However, there is always a possibility that you might have a very specific piece of hard- or software, which stops our setup program. Please follow exactly the setup procedure that is described in your manual (and the setup instructions). If it still does not work send us an e-mail or fax (numbers see below).
