Research Interests
Population, Food Security, and Health
Between January 1988 and December 1994 I worked as a Senior Research Scholar at the Population Program of the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA). During that period I was primarily interested in the following questions:
1. What is the relationship between global demographic trends and global food security?
2. Is the concept of "population carrying capacity" useful to describe resource and food limitations to population growth?
3. How many people can be fed on earth?
4. What are the demographic effects of the HIV/AIDS epidemic?
This research resulted in a number of publications and reports.
